Upcoming projects

A few things I forgot to mention in the video:
-the plastic bags under the milk cans are temporary. I'm going to cut some black felt to protect the floor
-the armchair has no cushion, but a red one is coming in the mail soon!
-the dresser in the bedroom was a lucky & free find. Canadian wood = heavy & sturdy. Too bad it's poorly painted.

Some projects in the works:
-livingroom couch pillows
-curtains in the livingroom, bedroom and kitchen
-low foot stool
-coat hangers since we have no coat closet
 -framing parts of a map
-adding lots of antique mirrors on one wall (but how? with concrete walls?)
-adding one or a couple of antique windows to the wall (grr concrete walls)
I know that's a lot of projects, and I've got several more in my head for my classroom... Really, the only one I've had time to commit to is the fabric I'll use in the livingroom--and I'm waiting for it to go on sale!!

For those of you who are curious about the rest of the dorm, here's another short video.

  1. I love your ambition! Your projects look totally fun ;). I would go to Home Depot/Lowes and ask them what they would recommend to hang stuff on for concrete walls - there are a lot of hardware options out there. Hopefully one of them will work :)

  2. I LOVE that map idea!!! Thanks for showing the dorm. How neat that it is centrally located and you can look out on greenery! I wonder how well insulated the building is and if you'll hear every little thing? especially on the stair well? But maybe you need to hear every little thing!! Hope you'll have the best most well-behaved girls on campus! Love you!

  3. Thanks for the tour of the Avery Dorm, Shao-Shen! Looks like a college dorm.

I'm in Nashville until Wednesday when I fly back to OC. Pace yourself with those projects! Love you. dad
