Starting last Monday, I've graded every night until 9pm or so. Matt has been so helpful with giving me the time and space to get 'er done. He's helped with dishes and meals and otherwise turned a blind eye to the entropy happening all around us. He is so easy going.
By Friday, the light at the end of the tunnel was getting brighter and I was starting to see the bottom of my pile. Good thing, because my motivation was dropping at the speed of summer vacation, and I was about to give everyone As just because. I decided to invite some friends over for a Saturday afternoon crafting party, hoping with all of my will power to be done by then. By Saturday lunchtime, it. was. done. At least, the parts that could be done. This week I'll be collecting AP French finals, essays and oral recordings. 9 students is a friendlier number than 30.
Oddly, as soon as I put down my green pen, a rush of energy swept over me, like a miracle! Pure joy. I cleaned the house and got all of my supplies ready. Tessie and Adriane had crafts too and we just chatted the afternoon away, each working on our projects. It was so much fun. Why hadn't I done this before? What was life like before my sewing machine? I continued browsing though online tutorials, bookmarking way too many websites for future reference. I have to promise myself to finish a project before starting another one... Pictures to show later... you'll just have to be patient.

ReplyDeleteBy the way, did you know you're a "no reply blogger." Google that to find out what it means. I'd appreciate it if you'd change it so I can more easily respond to your comments on my blog!
