iRain

Irene came and went and behold our house is still standing!

The town in which I work just got the all clear for safe drinking water again. They got hit worse than we did. And here's what we saw in our town:

Carnegie lake: super high waters.

The lake and the canal joined forces into one big waterway. The tow path disappeared. Then reappeared 24 hours later.
In one direction:

In the other direction:

Harrison lane flooded and remained closed for several days.

One SUV thought he was so tough and plowed through the water thinking he could make it. His car finally got towed on Tuesday.

We're glad that all of this rain is done for now. We've enjoyed full sunny days at 85 degrees! Because school is around the corner (hyperventalating), I went to my class to do some photocopying and organizing. Like I said, Irene did much more damage in my workplace than at home. Here's proof: my classroom ceiling caved in, the rain soaked the carpet and now it smells like dead fish.

Or shall I say frog legs?
