"Excuse me, do you work here?"

No.

I am officially free from folding duties!! Today was my last day at the store and boy did it creep by. It might have had something do to with our upcoming vacation to California to spend a week with grandma and my sister and brother-in-law... And my mood must have had something to do with spending the previous three consecutive days in a musty, dirty basement counting and counting and counting. I'd go to bed at the end of the day and when I closed my eyes, all I could see was myself bending over boxes counting, bundling clothes in fives, recounting them, and entering the data into my hand-held machine. Ugh. I've never experienced such a difficult, tedious, and exhausting task. Worse than taking college exams and worse than grading students finals. Today, all I could think about was getting OUT. I spent the last part of my day reflecting and counting (believe it) all the items I was responsible for in the men's department, which is one of the biggest. (I also worked in other departments)

Here's what I calculated (since I'm so good at math now):
-490 sweatpants and shorts hung
-260 misc. items hung (tees, sweatshirts, long sleeves)
-864 tee-shirts folded
-1304 sweatshirts folded
Total: 750 items hung (psshhh! piece of cake)
Total: 2168 items folded (!!)

Lesson: Be a gentle shopper.

  3. Whenever I look at something in a store and unfold it, I always try to refold it but can never (ever) get it back the way I found it. I always end up with a weird triangle. I'm pretty sure I can't help it.
