Sunday was day 10 of no PM nap. His morning one was 9 to 10 and I was like "seriously?? ONE HOUR???" Needless to say, Sunday was a loooonnngg day and he had a hard time settling down that night for bed.
On Monday, we decided to keep him awake and put him down for a mid-day nap only. He did okay staying awake, but only slept 1 hr 15 minutes. The next day was the same thing - a one hour mid-day nap and I was so discouraged, wondering when my overtired baby would finally get the rest he needed. After 10 days, then this, I didn't know when I'd see the light at the end of the tunnel. Wednesday morning was MOPS and he had a great time playing in the nursery. As soon as he was buckled in the car at 11:20, he was in dreamland. I knew that would happen for the 30 minute drive home, and I was praying he would stay asleep as I transferred him to his crib. He woke up momentarily, and then he woke up close to 2 pm!!!!!! A nap!! A NAP!!! For about 2.5 hours!! I was in heaven. Honestly, few things have been more exciting than this for both Kent and me. He ate lunch after 2 pm which surprised me because the last time he had anything to eat or drink was 7 am. I thought the nursery ladies would give him a bottle, but they didn't.
I'm hopeful that today will be similar to yesterday, but I do plan to feed him before he sleeps, even if it's just a little bit. Fingers crossed!

Take heart! When each of my boys went down to one nap, it took about 2 weeks for the one nap to be long enough. It'll happen! And who knows, if he's able to pull off living on just one nap, we can have so many more outings this Christmas!! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat Sarah said!! Such a big boy to be transitioning to just one nap already! Sounds like he will make it over the hump and you will rediscover your sanity!! Big Hugs, Nana
