MOOOOOOOOSE!!!!

Can you believe it?? WE SAW ONE!!!!

It all happened after a delicious breakfast at a local place.

(Yes, I'm slouching. Sorry Dad, I was cold from packing up tent in the rain.)

We were heading out of the White Mountains, on our way home, but still looking for moose at every bend, clearing and through every forest. I (Rebekah) was driving and taking my time on the windy and steep back roads. It only took one forth of a second to realize that the black spot that I had seen in the clearing to my left was the moose we had been waiting to see. It was a crazy, speechless moment. Matt saw it at the same time, and both of us turned our heads to each other, eyes totally wide and full of shock and excitement, as if to say "Was that what I think it was?!?!" I came to a screeching halt on the side of the road, our camera and binoculars ready and already zooming in the right direction. The moose was making his way into the thick of the forest, but just before he went out of sight, he looked straight at me. Luckily, I was running up the hill while looking out of the lens and thinking "This is CRAZY!" The snapshot is everything I had hoped for. The moose must not have been more than 10 feet away from the opposite lane while we were in the car, but the picture was taken further away from that. We waited around a bit, hoping he would come out and start grazing again, but he didn't. That's OK. We found our moose and drove home smiling.
