One full weekend

I haven't had the time or energy or motivation to blog over the last two months, and I'm not going to go back in time to catch up.... There really wasn't much to update you all on, except a lot of the same stuff: work. Our birthdays came and went without much hooplah either, but last weekend we were able to spent the WHOLE weekend together. Can you believe it? A whole REAL weekend, not a regular one when I come home after teaching all morning on Saturday. What a treat!

Friday night: We went to a wedding rehearsal for a colleague of Matt's. Matt served as the usher, and I stepped in spontaneously when everthing got super-stressful at one point. The groom is French and the bride American, so the groom's guests were pretty late in coming and settling down to be seated. I wonder if it was more of a cultural thing because they had NO idea when things were starting (music: processional of the mother of the bride)!! They kept getting out of their seats and taking pictures, even while the minister and the best men & groom were all in place! Sheesh. The wedding took place on Sunday and it was lovely. I took mostly black and white pictures since I figured she'd have enough colored ones. Unfortunately, I don't have a single shot from the reception, which was in a fancy hotel in town. The meal was awesome! We made friends with the groom's family friends, who invited us to visit them in Paris! I got to wear the super-discounted black dress I found at Target and Grandma's pearls again. And Matt still fit into his suit from our wedding! This was the first of three weddings we have on our summer schedule, and the first we've ever been to since our own wedding!

The day before, we took a day trip to Cape May, a place I've been wanting to visit for a while now. We packed lunch and hit the road pretty early to beat the heat. We went to the beach, stumbled on a strawberry festival, tasted samples, walked the town, window shopped at antique & specialty stores, entered raffles, and ate a delicious sea food meal! I was having so much fun oohing and aahing over everything that I really didn't think to take pictures. It surprised me how much I must have been deprived of fun weekends like these!

The prize.

I'm always good at taking pictures of Matt!

And he makes it a hobby to click when you're least expecting it.

I bet the groom's family was thrilled to have someone they could speak with! I wonder if you'll really connect in Paris! You look GREAT, ready for the photo or not! Love you, Mom
